PIOTR TUREK (Lódz, Poland 1961).

PIOTR TUREK (Lódz, Poland 1961). "Dualis", 1996. Triptych. Oil and collage on canvas. Signed and titled on the back Measurements: 90 x 230 cm (total). Triptych that belongs to one of the most relevant series of the author, both for its magnitude and for the development of his painting. In this piece where the color blue is a clear protagonist, the author structures the composition in three spaces, following the classic tradition of the use of the triptych. Although the aesthetic language of the work is based on figuration, the oscillating and fluid forms tend to abstraction. However, it is evident that the artist gathers in the center a group of characters, their silhouettes, which are observed by a human figure, arranged in each of the sides of the triptych. Both the format and the distribution of the composition indicate certain similarities with works of religious content. Piotr Turek, painter and journalist, began his training in 1980, studying at the Faculty of Law and Administration, although after finishing his degree, he decided to write in Fine Arts. In 1990, he received an artistic scholarship from the city of Stuttgart, which allowed him to develop an artistic residency. Throughout his career he has been awarded on numerous occasions, most notably the prize of the Fine Arts Competition in Strzemiski. His artistic production is defined by the use of oils, with a very colorful aesthetic, which has sometimes been compared to the work of Pierre Bonnard.
